December 27, 2011 DOT Announces New Hours-of-Service Limits for Commercial Truck Drivers
On December 27, 2011, the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published The Hours of Service of Drivers Final Rule, which revises the hours-of-service (HOS) safety requirements for commercial truck drivers.

During a vehicle inspection near Moose Lake, MN a Statte Trooper's dash camera was recording as a log truck passed by the intersection of County Line Road 8 and County Road 61 and lost half of its load. The video is a great example of the importance of proper load securement. Fortunately, no one was injured, but it doesn't take a lot of imagination to think of all the terrible types of accidents that could have happened.

2012 Logging Congress Moving to Oshkosh, Wisconsin
The Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association (GLTPA) recently announced that the 2012 Lake States Logging Congress & Equipment Expo will be held at the Oshkosh EAA Grounds. The GLTPA had considered three sites for the 2012 Logging Congress: The Patriot Center in Wausau, Lambeau Field and Shopko Hall in Green Bay, and the EAA Grounds in Oshkosh. The EAA Grounds boasts 60,000 square feet of indoor exhibitor space and an almost unlimited amount of outdoor exhibitor space along with plenty of outdoor parking. The 2012 Logging Congress will be September 6, 7, 8 2012.
